CHARACTER:
Name: Seivarden Vendaai
Canon: The Radch Trilogy by Ann Leckie
Canon Point: End of book one, Ancillary Justice.
Age: Physically, probably their mid to late thirties. Chronologically, well over 1000 years due to being in a suspension pod.
Original Universe or Alternate Universe?: Original Universe
Background: A link to the very sparse Imperial Radch wiki here. I will also try and sum up their history briefly in a few bullet points in order to add more detail.
  • Seivarden was born to one of the old and wealthy families of the imperial Radch, Vendaai. As an adolescent she took aptitudes tests that placed her on a path to a career in the military service

  • The first ship Seivarden served on as a young lieutenant was Justice of Toren, a troop carrier where she commanded AI controlled human bodies used as soldiers known as Ancillaries. She was not Justice of Toren's favorite.

  • Eventually transferred away and rose to the rank of captain.

  • Commanded her own vessel, Sword of Nathtas and participated in an unknown number of conquests known to the Radch as Annexations

  • When carrying representatives of the planet Garsedd to surrender to the Lord of the Radch, these representatives deployed weapons and destroyed Seivarden's ship. She was shoved into an escape pod by one of her ancillaries and so escaped.

  • She drifted in stasis for 1,000 years. When she awoke and found that 1,000 years had passed, that her house had been absorbed and that all her friends and family had died she fled Radch space and turned to drugs, becoming an addict of a particular mind-numbing concoction known as Kef

  • She was found by Breq on the planet Nilt and nursed back to health

  • Despite resenting Breq initially, Breq ended up saving her life several times and Seivarden became attached to her

  • Aided Breq in stopping Anaander Mianaai, Lord of the Radch, from destroying the space station Omaugh Palace after Breq revealed Anaander Mianaai's sbtle internal war. This turned that internal war into a full on power struggle.

  • RECORD:
Please limit the Disposition section to 800 words and the other sections in this portion of the app to 500 words.

Disposition: Shed light on both the strengths and the weaknesses of your character, as well as their typical attitude. Name some personality traits that make them recognizable among their peers in their canon. This section may be presented in bullet-point format.

First impression: Characters in Isometrical will find themselves in a dystopian setting that may cause disturbances to their mental and emotional state. Please describe how your character will react to finding themselves in this kind of setting and how they might proceed upon learning what kinds of obstacles they will face there. This is the place to elaborate on how your character is suited to the setting, especially if the character is below the age of 16.

Under pressure: Seivarden has already had to make at least one rather large change in her life. She was in stasis for a thousand years, after all, and woke up to a completely different society than the one she was used to. At the time, she responded by becoming a drug addict and running away from her problems. Being stuck here, far away from anything she might consider civilization and presumably separated from her new anchor, Breq, she might well lapse into bad habits again and become despondent or seek out chemical dependencies again. However, she's also arrogant and a jerk and so might well respond by trying to take charge of the situation to get her back to where she thinks she 'needs' to be. She IS an experienced military officer and used to dealing with the political machinations of great houses.

Powers, abilities, & companions: Since Isometrical is a ring world around a distant white dwarf star, and includes many types of advanced tech with which supernatural powers will not interface, some characters may find their powers reduced or nerfed. Please list how this may affect your character, if applicable. If there is some kind of onboard companion (for example, an AI) that you would like your character to arrive with, please describe the companion and why it is important for the character to have the companion with them.

Notes: Radch society and language does not differentiate based on gender and most outsiders find the Radch ambiguously gendered at best. The Radch language, as written in the books, defaults to using the gendered pronoun 'she' to refer to all characters and does not explicitly gender any of its characters. Seivarden is revealed to be interpreted as male by a foreign character in Ancillary Justice, but I will be using Radch language conventions in writing her, and so will be referring to her using she/her pronouns. Others may use what pronouns they wish to refer to her in their writing (he/him, they/theirs) without fear of causing offense.

Inventory: List the items the character will have on their person when they arrive in Isometrical.

    SAMPLES:
Links from TDM threads, threads from a previous game, or meme threads are acceptable, as long as the thread progresses to the point it shows good understanding of the character. Please keep linked samples to play within the last year and no older.

At least one sample should be set in-game.

Dialogue-heavy sample: Threads or free writing where characters communicate in a more open style. Encapsulate how the character thinks and acts when interacting with another character. This may be a network-style post or dialogue as in a log. Length: At least 120 words.

Prose-heavy sample: Threads or free writing which shows introspection as well as action. Length: At least 200 words.
